  1. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?

    Editing editing editing ahhh
I've finally sorted the structure of the story, and so now it's trivial things to sort out like hiding jump cuts and smoothing out the sound. You have to be engaged when you're trying to construct a story - if you're not, nobody else will be!

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?

Having to watch other people's edits when I was so needing to get on with my own edit. That said, it was good to look at what other people have done so far.

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?

Mark checking the structure of my edit. A second opinion is highly valued, especially when you've been listening to the same few sentences over and over for two days straight!

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?

    I've been puzzled today.

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)

How quickly I can get things done if I put some headphones on, block everyone out and just think purely about the structure/story of my edit.

  4.  1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?

I was most engaged helping matt with his project and helping him cut the sound as the rest of my day was un constructive due to hard drive issues.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening ?

During rendering work that was already complete I was most distanced as it was impossible to continue with other work.

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?

Mark telling me the Sheila interview had to be re filmed was reassuring as it was becoming difficult to edit someone else's footage when it was limited and less than average.

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?

I was told to open the vitor interview on the computer when the file wasn't copied to the drive properly so I spent the afternoon looking for files that weren't there.

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)

I was most surprised by the fact that very few people had taken the imperfection in sound from there interviews.

    ALL DAY!

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
I felt distant when reviewing the Heritage films as I was unsure how to improve them.

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
Non of the actions taking were affirming, just critical, not helpful.

I didn't find any of the criticisms confusing, but no advice was given.

  6. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
When i was editing my footage - i got a lot of my work completed today due to being able to do what i wanted with the time that we were given in the day. I managed to complete all of my editing and get some of my pre-production paperwork completed. I feel that today was a very productive day.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
When viewing the Heritage videos, i didn't really understand the purpose and aim of the heritage project and felt the videos were a bit confusing.

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
My classmate helped me while editing and taught me how to edit sound within my editing which was very helpful. With knowing more about final cut i feel that i can do more with my work and how i want it to look.

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
i didn't find anything particularly confusing today, but if anything it would be when trying to edit my footage and not knowing how to do everything i wanted - for example changing the sound and how to do different effects on final cut.

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
How pleased i am withy my final edit - at first i thought that my video wouldn't be anywhere near the standard that i wanted it to be, but by the end of the day i had produced a video that i was happy with and of which i thought was of a reasonable standard in quality

  7. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
Reading the feminism in film essays on google books, i learnt a lot today and have been really interested in the subject and i'm glad i will eventually write my essay on something im interested in.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?

Watching the heritage footage, i have work to do and i havnt even been involved in the heritage project much so i'm not really bothered about its progression because i have other projects to do

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?

nothing really i havent really had contact with my tutors or students because i've been focused on my independent study all day :)

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
seeing the principal pop in randomly and start asking questions when i didn't even know who it was at first and i wondered what she wanted to know about my work for she didn't really explain and then i felt bad that i was really vague :S

  8. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?

i felt most engaged just editing because thats all we have done today i enjoy it but after a while i get tired of the word 'erm'.

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?

i didnt really feel distanced, ive noticed that people are saying that they felt distanced when watching other peoples films but i enjoy watching other peoples work cus it gives me a break from editing for an hour or so and gives me a few ideas and what i should be aiming for

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?

when nick came over and gave me a really quick way to edit which made it alot easier.

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)

I felt most engager while i was editing the heritage project and getting the story to flow from the interview

I didn't feel distanced at any point today.

  10. 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?

I have been editing a heritage interview today so I have been busy!

    2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?

I feel most distanced when Im distracted by noise from the class as it pulls it out of my editing trance like state.

    3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?

By 4pm my editing decisions became non existent. My edit seemed to go on forever which is not what i want so Mark showed me where to cut and explained why which was most helpful.

    4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?

I do not think that some of class quite understand the urgency in getting this project done for Dec..I feel there is only a few of us that get it. Also why certain people take the time to distract other people because they have done their work.

    5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)

I was really surprised at the rough edits of the heritage projects and why no one really said look we have a problem as this footage / sound is bad. People who edited earlier have been saying its done for weeks etc when it clearly is not. You know within half an hour if the footage is useable etc. We would have more time to re-film if someone could of spoke earlier. I`m very dubious when people say they have done everything and say they have nothing to do.Totally uncool! Even if you did not film the interview, in edit you have to speak up!!!I think Matt`s and Josh`s edit were good though!
