1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
Just trying the different types of equipment out in the studio, I think I learn better by doing - making mistakes, problem solving, etc.
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
Before we went into the studio, trying to decide on an idea was quite stressful, and there were a few arguments that distanced me and it seemed like a few other people from the task at hand. Some heated discussions should have been nipped in the bud I thought, as they dragged on and people had to repeat themselves to get their points across.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
Paul helped us decide on our idea - the simpler the better.
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
Some students just messed around and it annoyed me. They either weren't listening to the director or Paul, tried to do as little as possible, or just kept messing around with the equipment - any messing around has to be rectified, and it just slows everybody else down, and I thought they just let the group down in terms of productivity, learning and proving we can work well together. Disappointed, and just puzzled as to why people are wasting this cool opportunity.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
Some people who tried out the cameras couldn't set up a very nice shot! Head room, 180 degree line, eye-line, etc. I thought everybody knew this, so I was surprised.
1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening? When in the studio and being able to have a go at using the different equipment. It was good to be able to have a go at the different roles.
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening? When discussing ideas in the classroom of what we could do for our production. I felt that not everyones ideas were taken into consideration and that we went with the first idea that was brought to the table. When in the classroom it was very stressful and a lot of individual discussions took place and i felt that some members of the group were left out.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful? When Richard gave a talk to the whole group at the start of the session. I thought that this was really good as it made me feel like we were a team. It was good to see what he wanted us to achieve as a group which i also found as a good thing. I think that it is good to have talks like these when working as a group.
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
When discussing the ideas of what we could do for the production. It was all very confusing and i could never keep up with what everyone was saying due to the fact of that separate discussions were taking place at the same time. I am still unsure of what we have decided on as a final idea for our production.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.) How much time we seemed to waste both in the classroom and in the studio,
1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
i felt most engaged with in the studio when i was presenting the show, its so easy for me because i like to be on camera so i'm used to it than people that don't like being on camera
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
in the classroom, first we sorted out the job roles and that went good but then when we came to the idea, jesus!, there were so many, kid show, harry hill, news, etc. i was trying to get my idea out to everyone talk and it was impossible amy was talking then richard then other people and then i was just about to talk and paul start talking, in the end after 10 mins i manage to say my idea about the news.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
when we all knew the idea of the show we were making
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
in the classroom, there was a little of shouting going on by one student that didnt like how simple it was going to be and had a little hissy fit but then that was all sorted out kinda.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.
i notice that some people didnt know what they were doing or dont know what job roles they have when they have already been told what it is. but they whole of the group just need to get used to the cameras and equipment to get the best out of it. overall our group is ace.
1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
Learning the new equipment in the studio as it is exciting to learn new skills. It was good to get to know our team as our class has not had an assignment like this yet.I am still looking forward to creating a show.
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
When a member of our team spent time arguing with Richard over the concept. It took up our quality time.I think you have to know when to when to listen, especially to the director, so we can achieve our goal of producing a show.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
Paul explained the new equipment in the studio so that was affirming and helpful. It was affirming to meet our whole team.
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
Selecting the job roles was not set in stone so maybe that needs to be sorted this week so everyone knows and can focus on them. I dont understand why the assistant director spent time vision mixing. I thought he would have to be free to support the director and floor manager.
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
Rude people who dont take no for an answer, or simply do not listen to Richard when hes speaking.Things need to improve on the listening front as we have restricted time in the studio. We have a great team if everyone can focus on the job.
