Dragon Tattoo....meh

Just read this Dragon Tattoo review...

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo-rooney-mara-daniel-craig-david-fincher-272649

seems like its gonna be a solid adaptation but one that doesn't quite reach the heights of Fincher's Se7en and Zodiac

As I've seen the Swedish orginal I wonder how much Fincher can actually bring to this...and I also wonder whether Rooney can top the Lisbeth of the original film who I thought was excellent

One minor thing that threw me - why is Craig speaking with an English accent???

  1. I have seen the trailer which I thought was cut beautifully. Not familar with the history on these films but I definately want to watch the, when I get time..... :)

  2. I think Fincher's brilliant, but it is what it is, a remake. Hopefully a very good remake that he's added his own flair to, just like Scorsese's Departed. We can only know until we see it for ourselves! Reviews are only a person's opinion. I'm looking forward to it personally :)

  4. completely agree...i wont know until i see it so i'll reserve judgement

however, i can't help feeling that i will agree with this reviewer....if you havent seen the original then im sure the whole thing will feel very fresh, suspenseful and, in some parts, fairly frightening....but for those who have seen the original - unless fincher pulls a scorsese departed trick, which was different enough to warrant being made - i cant see where the surprises will be....which means that i will simply be watching the events unfold...

  5. I've heard he's changed the ending? So he must be going a different way with it to some extent. Hopefully it's not just a more 'Hollywood' ending, we know from Se7en he's not one for those. I've not seen the original, I might try and watch it before I see this one, I've heard very good things about it :)

I do agree though, if it's simply just an english language version of the film, it's pointless, like Let Me In was as far as I was concerned.
