I actually liked north by northwest. Not one of Hitchcock's best but still good. I was surprised to see the similarities of the story of the film unknown with this. Might be me but its similar story.

When going through the star theory, i found it a lot easier to understand when Lyndsay talks through the different theorys and it is very helpful.

How bad the effects of when people are driving in a car were on the Hitchcock film today, it made me realise how much film has advanced since then.

4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
Why Cary Grant was considered the best actor of that age?
5. What about the class this week surprised you the most? (This could be something about your own reactions to what went on, or something that someone did, or anything else that occurs to you.)
I liked North by Northwest, and appreciated Hitchcock's direction and the style of it, but it didn't beat the previous Hitchcock films I'd seen - maybe it was older, it didn't seem to have aged very well. I don't think Cary Grant's acting was very convincing at all, I was expecting a very charming, enigmatic star - he was really wooden, his face never changed! It's cool to look at how films and acting styles have advanced over the years.
Visual 1. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most engaged with what was happening?
Watching half of North By Northwest, laughing at North by Northwest and chatting to Paul and Mark about the Manchester film. I loved the effects...they told the story well and Cary Grants face was the same in every shot-happy and sad.The police scene was the best when Grant forgot to move right because the car was going around the corner-funny!
2. At what moment in the class this week did you feel most distanced from what was happening?
Thinking about just how much there still is to organize for this film, I`ll have less time now to pop in extra to work on it which is a concern as ive been in 5 days a week and i think crew members should pop in the extra days to be working on it when possible such as a Monday or Tuesday.
3. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find most affirming and helpful?
Lindsays talk on Star Theory, fascinating subject.
4. What action that anyone (teacher or student) took in class this week did you find the most confusing puzzling?
Well...thinking back to a couple of film shots that I was shown today and I remember that I was actually stood at the top of the stairs...if you remember...so there.
