That was a mistake...
a list of Best Picture winners that probably shouldn't have won...thoughts?
http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20311937_20572218,00.html
So, the big question is: will The Artist be added to this list one day? Did the oscars drop the ball (again)?
Best Film
Drive (not even nominated!?!?), Tree of Life (arguably the most ambitious film of the year, regardless of what you think of it), Hugo, Beginners, The Descendents, Shame...
Best Actor
did The Artist contain the best male performance of 2011 (over michael fassbender, andy serkis, ryan gosling, brad pitt, gary oldman, george clooney, etc).
Best Director
was that the film that contained the best direction of 2011?
I know what i think....what about you?

Best Director should of been Nicolas Winding Refn in my opinion. Best Actor... Mr Gosling, but I'm sure once Ive watched Shame Fassbender may be in with a chance. I think they all have used film to it's potential, either through acting and directing. I l feel these films added another dimension creativly something new and exciting, addressing new ideas and storys. This though is open to debate... another debate ha ha.
ReplyDeleteSome right clangers on that website !!!
ReplyDeleteWell gutted drive and gosling didn't even get nominated!
Outrage!!!!
yes, it was very disappointing that 'drive' didn't get nominated. i think its shows how out of touch the oscars have become...
ReplyDeletealso, shame and fassbender have been criminally overlooked (although fassbender did win the kermode award for best actor).
i don't know why i'm surprised though...forrest gump over pulp fiction? i like tom hanks as much as the next person...but pulp fiction?!?!?oh dear
